Your Staff-Parish Relations Committee has been working to serve you and represent you to the United Methodist Church North Texas Conference (NTC). We had our first regular meeting of the year to reflect on the role of the SPRC and to plan for our work in 2018. Soon after that meeting, we received the  news that Jeff Garrett has been appointed to be the Lead Pastor at Tyler Street  UMC. We are happy for this new opportunity for the Garretts, but sad to see them leave.

This news caused us to have two special meetings and to work with the District Superintendent, Rev. Cammy Gaston, to talk about a new lead pastor for our church. After receiving our input, Bishop McKee and the Cabinet of the NTC announced the appointment of Dr. Keva Green to First UMC Cedar Hill, effective July 1. Keva has a winsome personality, and she has a passion for preaching. If you want more information about Keva, please let me know.
Please pray for Keva, and for Jeff and Cindi, during this period of transition. We want to have a send-off celebration for the Garretts on June 24 after the church service. We also want to make Keva feel welcome on moving day, June 28.

The next meeting of the SPRC will be Monday, April 16, at 7pm. Let me know if you have any input for the committee. Our goal is to communicate openly and regularly with you, and listen well to you! Thank you for praying for us!
