Santhia Collins, originally from Atlanta, Ga, surrendered to God’s call to the ministry through music at the age of 12. After beginning to study piano at the age of 7, Santhia continued to participate in the music ministry of her church as a vocalist and accompanist. Moving to Birmingham, Alabama, she studied Music Education at Samford University with voice as her principle and piano as her secondary. She taught choral music in the Bay City ISD before serving in churches in the Texas Baptist Convention and in the Texas and New Mexico Conferences of the United Methodist Church. In the past 32 years, she has had the opportunity to serve God in many ways musically and prays that he continues to bless her ministry here in this wonderful and welcoming church and community.
“My passion is taking the notes and the words on the page and presenting them creatively to speak to the hearts of the musicians and the listeners.”

Eric and Kelsey Carter
Eric was born and raised in Altavista, Virginia. Kelsey was born in Ohio but raised in Altavista, Virginia. We have known each other since we were children. And that’s right, we were high school sweethearts. We were traditional bandies, Eric was the drum major and Kelsey, the color guard captain. What a pair! Eric went on to receive his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics and Kelsey, her bachelor’s degree in Psychology. We married in 2010. After Eric’s employment with American Eagle Airlines in 2011, we moved to Texas (900 miles from our families) to start his airline pilot career. Kelsey went back to school and received her Masters of Teaching in Science Education from the University of Texas at Dallas. With her goal to be in informal science education. Kelsey received the call to youth ministry. After much discussion, Kelsey and Eric decided it would be a team effort to lead the Youth Ministry. We are so happy to be part of First United Methodist Church Cedar Hill.
