08/05, at sea en route to Rotterdam, Holland: Due to it’s strategic location on the North Sea, the city is the largest cargo port in all Europe. We’re not sure what we’ll do there, but tomorrow we’re hopping a train early to go to Haarlem (near Amsterdam) to see Corrie ten Boom’s house—just maybe Cindi’s top bucket list dream! The family hid Jews from the Nazi occupation during the early years of World War II, only to be betrayed by a fellow Dutch neighbor. The house is now a museum, restored to authentic early 1940s detail, down to the false wall in Corrie’s bedroom where they hid many Jews.

~ In Psalm 61:4 the oppressed child of God laments, “I long to take refuge in the shelter of Your wings.” As disciples, when we are obedient and extend God’s compassionate love in Christ, we extend the Lord’s ‘wings’ of protection and peace. May we too hear His call.
