Our most recent ‘Do Something’ project was not only a success, it was a HUGE success. About 35 people gathered to see our gym stage overflowing with gifts to our three favorite non-profits–Cedar Hill Shares, Bridges Safehouse, and Hope Mansion. Our 1stCH folks raised about $900 to purchase items. Other churches, along with the Duncanville Women’s Club, donated enough items to fill a small SUV five times and one pick up truck. Furthermore, First Baptist is teaching their children about giving by collecting money during Vacation Bible School.

The stories from leaders at Hope Mansion, Bridges Safehouse, and Cedar Hill Shares helped us know our gifts will be helpful and appreciated. But two stories of lives turned around and getting to meet the five adorable girls from Hope Mansion brought joy to everyone’s heart. And as a spontaneous bonus, we laughed with delight at the very comical modeling by one resident of the contents of a fully-loaded diaper bag–one was given to each mom or mom-to-be.

Last seen, the delightful five young ladies were smiling broadly as Judy Dickerson sent them off with wonderful leftover sandwiches and fruit. Thank you everyone for making this possible! We really, really ‘did something!’ –Sheri Ketchum
