Local Mission Work Ideas for “Do Something Constructive”

As part of our Lenten challenge to “Do Something Constructive ” this year, we are asked to volunteer for at least 4 hours before Easter. Here are some possibilities:
~ become a reader/mentor for our church’s Wesley Academy
~ help Fri/Sat at Cedar Hill Shares Food Pantry
~ help Fri/Sat at New2You Thrift Store (profits go to the food pantry)
~ offer to grocery shop for a partial shut-in
~ call Bridges Safehouse to ask how you might help
~ do yard work at Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center
~ install smoke detector batteries w/CH Fire Dept.
~ become a Citizen on Patrol w/CH Police Dept. (in memory of Doris Childres)
~ do yard work at CH Pet Memorial Park
~ start up a friendship with someone who is lonely
~ offer to assist a neighbor in a repair of some sort
~ grow a small vegetable garden and promise to give much produce away
~ throw a thank you party for teachers at Bray Elementary
~ ask the CH Senior Center what needs you might be able to meet
~ offer to help a low-income church with something
~ become family to a Crestview Court resident who has none
~ do outdoor work with City of CH Parks Crew
~ pray for a sign, follow your heart, act in faith…
