Report from Our Cookie Caper of 2018

nancyevansNews & Events

Each year FUMC selects either a group of individuals or a single family to receive the funds raised through the Great Cookie Caper. This year’s caper benefited a recently displaced, single-mothered family of six. With setting-up a new household – utility deposits, broken household appliances, feeding and clothing 5 growing teenagers – it was evident this family needed the blessings God provides through the FUMC Great Cookie Caper.
As church members bought and filled cookie tins, donations of money and other needed items for the family were received – a $1,200 gift card for a new refrigerator, a $50 gift card for the family to purchase Christmas dinner groceries, tins of cookies bought for the family, and a total of $1,980 to be spent on items for the family.
Members of the youth along with Tammy Easterling purchased technology – tablets, beats headphones, a bike, clothing including boots and a purse, toiletries, games, grocery items, and additional gift cards. When Tammy delivered the gifts, mom said, “I don’t even know what to say… ‘Thank You’ just doesn’t seem to be enough.”
Thank you church for your continued support of this yearly Christmas event.
